VIPs and musical accompaniment
We especially look forward to Hans-Joachim Fuchtel at the German Culture Days, Parliamentary Secretary of State and Commissioner General of the German Garden exhibition.
A brass band of sixty-one from the Musikverein Stammheim eV and Musikverein Trachtenkapelle Althengstett eV music societies will be playing to visitors on the square in front of the German Garden exhibition and International Pavilion on 25 and 26 August 2019.
A mega brass band in China from two traditional musical societies
Two neighbouring musical societies – Trachtenkapelle Althengstett founded in 1922 and Musikverein Stammheim eV established in 1877 – share more than two centuries of experience as a fixture in the traditional Southern German cultural landscape.
Both societies are based in the Northern Black Forest – or more specifically, the Calw District. Hobby musicians don't always have the same reputation, but they do share the same passion for making music.
The last thirty years have seen both societies take the same numbers of trips abroad. These trips have taken the musicians to neighbouring European countries and destinations much further in Africa, the USA and Asia. They remember the cultural exchanges they have enjoyed to this day. China comes next on the list of destinations for the ensemble of fifty-nine musicians and two conductors.
The musical styles in their repertoire range from traditional Bohemian-Moravian and classical to rock 'n' pop, blues, swing and soul that the orchestra interprets in its own signature brass sound with tonnes of oomph.
